I’m always amazed how fashion bloggers can put such cute outfits together, sometimes using very different styles or rocking three fashion trends in one go.
There are two gold rules that I’ve heard over and over again and that actually work:
- Key Piece: Choose one key piece and “build” your outfit around it. Be it a dress, a pair of boots or even a colorful bag. What’s important is that you let that item shine and let the other items support its beauty, rather than having all the items “fighting” for attention
- Contrast: Play with contrasts. Be it contrast in style (formal skirt with sneakers) or in shapes (long skirt with cropped t-shirt). This rule will make your outfit instantly more exciting.
Now here’s a bonus tip. When you don’t know how to pair that cute piece you just bought, if it feels like it doesn’t go with anything, don’t panic. I’ve been there too. And I have a best friend we can share – Pinterest.
This app is great for inspiration but also to help solve fashion dilemmas. Just try to write the name of the piece you’re struggling with (let’s say green bomber) and see a thousand options popping up in your feed on how other people style it.
What’s the fashion rule you live by?
